If you are facing a DC federal arrest, you probably need to know what to expect when you get to court. One of the best things you can do is learn about your right to a voluntary surrender.
Arian Taherzadeh and Haider Ali arrested
A federal indictment was filed Tuesday against two men accused of impersonating federal officers. The two men, identified as “Arian Taherzadeh” and “Haider Ali,” are suspected of attempting to pose as federal law enforcement agents in order to rent multiple apartments.
Taherzadeh and Ali claimed to work for the US Special Police Investigation Unit, a private company that allegedly was involved in investigations related to violence at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021. They also said they were deputized by the city government of the District of Columbia.
Prosecutors said the pair posed as armed dangerous men. Their lawyer argued that the men were not operatives of a hostile government. But prosecutors said that the men’s actions were so serious, they deserved to be jailed.
Taherzadeh was charged with false impersonation of a federal officer and unlawful possession of large-capacity ammunition magazines. He also pleaded not guilty to unlawful possession of a large-capable ammunition-feeding device.
According to the indictment, the pair was arrested last week after a Secret Service agent tipped off the FBI. After being detained, the men were released on house arrest. This means they cannot leave their home. However, Taherzadeh will be monitored by GPS technology.
A person’s first court date after the arrest
A person’s first court date after a DC federal arrest is never fun. But that doesn’t mean you have to go it alone. You can always hire a lawyer. The key is knowing when to ask for one and what not to ask for. Having an attorney by your side can make a bad situation a lot better. If you’re looking for a reputable law firm, look no further than the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. They’re open to the public and do great work. So, if you’re a resident of the capital, give them a call and let them help you reclaim your life. Or, at least your freedom. This may not be the case if you’ve gotten caught up in the echelons of a federal crime wave.
While it’s not the most elegant or sexiest, the DC courts and prosecutors aren’t always as nice as you might imagine. For instance, the best legal counsel might not have the best legal representation. That’s why it’s a good idea to consult a lawyer before you pounce on the first lawyer you see.
Voluntary surrender is possible after a DC federal arrest
A voluntary surrender is an option for anyone who is in violation of the law. This can be a relief for people who are afraid of being arrested for crimes. However, it can be a complicated process. It is best to seek the assistance of an attorney for guidance. You must be prepared to follow all procedures and to know what to expect.
In Washington DC, you can make a voluntary surrender by following the Safe Harbor Act. This is a special provision in the Firearms Act that allows you to surrender your gun to the police. If you have a firearm, you can do so at any Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) station or at your home.
When you want to make a voluntary surrender, you must contact an experienced criminal lawyer. An attorney will advise you on how to self-surrender and will notify the nearest MPD station. He or she can also accompany you to your self-surrender location.
